Paris is a busy city that never sleeps. Millions of tourists move through the city streets every day. It does sound like nothing special, but rollerblading by night is a big thing in Paris. The entire movement started in 1993 by a couple of enthusiasts that loved to rollerblade their way through the city by dark. Today, well, the movement counts up to a couple of thousands of people. In fact, the group was so popular in the 90s, the French police formed a rollerblading unit in 1998, first of its kind in the world. Fun is guaranteed!
Pony and donkey rides for kids are a normal thing in Paris. You can still find them in large parks and gardens such as the Parc Monceau, Luxembourg Gardens, Bois de Vincennes, and others. If you are the type of person that loves animals, you can spend the day with them in any of these parks.
Bicycles are super popular in Paris. Millions of cyclists cruise the city streets every day, which is why you can easily find plenty of bicycle tours. If you don’t have a bike, you can rent one. These tours have specific themes, so you can learn about let’s say hidden streets of Paris, or the architecture, history, culture.
The newest swimming pool in the city is quite unique because of the floating pool. It is located on the Seine river and it features all you need for an awesome time. You can relax at the cafe, workout at the gym, get a massage, chill out in a Jacuzzi, or have fun with friends in this modern open-air pool.
The Buttes Chaumont is a beautiful park located just north-east of Paris. It was built by Napoleon, who wanted to provide a beautiful setting with fresh air for all Parisians. The entire park was built by plan and every bolder, rock, lake, and island was placed with caution. As a result, the park is absolutely breathtaking and it is a place where you can see many artists as they try to capture this astonishing beauty on a piece of canvas.
Paris is full of parks and beautiful gardens, but it’s also surrounded by magnificent forests. Almost every park has a couple of small lakes that are just right for punting. You can rent a small rowing boat and relax on the water while looking at some of the prettiest sceneries in the world.

The Luxembourg Gardens are one of the most visited sites in Paris because it’s located in the busiest part of the city. The park is ideal for all types of sports and recreational activities. You can often see groups of people practicing yoga, tai chi, karate, and other martial arts on the vast grass fields. But, what exactly does this park offer? Let’s take a closer look at the awesome sports courts and other features you might want to check out.
Like we said, the Luxembourg Gardens are located close to the city center. The park can be found just behind the Luxembourg palace and it was built in the same fashion as the palace itself. What sets this park apart from the other parks is the amazing landscaping and the square-shaped trees.
The Luxembourg Museum is also close to the park, as are a couple of very popular high-class restaurants. In fact, nothing’s that far away from the park, so you can go sightseeing when you’re done with your recreation.
Luxembourg park is the most favorite place for joggers and runners in Paris. The longest track in the park is just over 2.05 kilometers, so it’s easy to keep track of your progress. 10 laps, and you’ve run a half-marathon. Many veteran joggers and marathons come here to train on a daily basis.
Nike running and other organizations hold running events in the park, but you can also find many other sports to play. We will get to that in a minute.
Basketball is a fairly popular sport in France, and some of the hardest and toughest street basketball games are played right here in Luxembourg Gardens. There are a couple of excellent courts to play on. Every board is brand new and each hoop has a net. It is quite obvious that the city maintains the entire park well enough.
If things get too hot in the summer sun, you can always retreat to the nearest shade and there is even a restaurant located just south of the court. If you come to the court in the late evening hours, the shade falls all over the court, so you won’t get sunburned.
The most popular sport in the park has to be Tennis (not counting jogging and running). The park has a number of separate courts that are almost always taken. You have to come very early during the day to even get a shot at tennis.
If you want to play that bad, some courts are pay to play, but they are often occupied as well.
Sports lovers can find other fun activities in the park. People often come here to play frisbee or even soccer. There is also a small outdoor gym with a couple of bars you can use to exercise. Skaters can have fun too, elders play chess, the kids have various playgrounds to enjoy.
